  • The initial idea for the Able-In-Christ website came from a statement that Michael Justice made as he taught a class on Disability in the Ministry.  His own trek with blindness and renal failure often left him feeling disconnected as a local church staff member.  Doing church responsibilities the regular way was the norm for most but Michael had to do things differently.

  •   When he and several others affected by different disabilities discussed some of the problems they faced, all came to the conclusion that some local church ministries were inaccessible even if one could finally get into the building.  With models and plans for everything from outreach to worship, having a disability or two or three sometimes made involvement into those methods of service practically impossible.

  •   The common denominator of disability isn’t Can or Can’t, but HOW!

  • Since every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ plays an important role in the functioning of the local church body, the ownership of a disability shouldn’t cause any ministry to exclude those individuals from Christian service.  Ideally, each ministry setting can benefit from not only ministering to those affected by disabilities but also receive benefit from them as they are used of God to offer ministry to those who aren’t disabled.  And in many cases, its just a matter of figuring out how they can do what God has gifted them to do and then giving them the chance to serve.  None of us could do the work of ministry apart from the Divine enablements we receive from the Holy Spirit, no matter what a person's abilities are.  But through Christ Jesus, we ALL are able!
